Barcroft Webcam
In December 2004 we installed a remotely controllable web-cam on one of the telephone poles at Barcroft. The camera was installed as part of a study which examines snow loading on the building rooftops and the solar photovoltaic panels mounted there. However, the camera can also be rotated and zoomed to view the surrounding environment. The photo below shows the Barcroft facilities from the south, with the location of the webcam shown as the large black dot on the right.
To use the webcam, click on the link below. You can take control of the camera by clicking the "start control" button, and navigate or zoom the camera using the scroll bars. You can also click on the small "crosshairs" rectangle at the lower right, which opens the panorama window, a highly distorted panorama of the entire field of view of the camera. Using the crosshairs in the panorama window takes the camera immediately to that point. You may have to wait your turn if others are using the camera.
