Abstract:
Lines and polygons from land use maps created by Charles H. Lee in 1924 were digitized to create a GIS layer.
Purpose:
The digitized version of the map allows the data to be analyzed in relation to other data in the Inyo County Water Department GIS. This will allow better understanding of vegetation which will facilitate improved management of groundwater pumping in the Owens Valley.

Homogenous and adjacent land cover types were merrged and boundaries traced onto mylar overlays. The mylar was scanned and georeferenced and an ArcView shapfile was created.
