Abstract:
USGS digital elevation models were mosaiced to create a single grid covering the entire Inyo and White Mountains.
Purpose:
The digital elevation model is useful for landscape scale studies of patterns of biological responses to physiographic variables such as slope, aspect, elevation, and insolation which can be derived from a digital elevation model (DEM). The DEM is also useful for hydrological modeling, map backgrounds and for creating shaded relief maps.

Digital elevation models at the 1:24000 scale provided by the USGS were mosaiced to make this grid. All DEMs used had a resolution of 10 meters with the exceptions of the following quads, which were only available at 30 meter resolution: Centennial Flat, Talc City Hills, Santa Rosa Flat, Owens Lake, Nelson Range, Keeler, Lower Warm Springs, Lone Pine, Dolomite, Cerro Gordo, Union Wash, New York Butte, Craig Canyon, East of Waucoba Springs, East of Waucoba Canyon, East of Joshua Flat.
