Data from shallow monitoring wells in the Owens
Valley were used as the basis for interoplation to
predict the depth-to-groundwater throughout the
entire Owens Valley. The interpolated values were
converted to a grid format which can be read in a
GIS.
- Purpose:

The grids of interpolated depth-to-water values
are a tool to improve management of groundwater in
the Owens Valley. They can be used to infer
groundwater pumping impacts to the water table,
and can be used to investigate and potentially
explain variation in vegetation cover and
composition over time.
