WMRS Advisory Committee | |

Mountain Research Station The Office of the President of the University of California appoints an Advisory Committee for the Station, with faculty nominated by campus Executive Vice Chancellors to represent every campus of the University. One to three extramural members are also appointed with the goal to include representatives from the California State University System, the UC Natural Reserve System, and the UC National Laboratories. In constituting the committee every effort is made to balance the scientific disciplines of the members, so that the committee can advise on the full diversity of scientific content represented at WMRS. The WMRS Director and a representative from the Office of the President serve as ex officio members of the Committee. Support staff include the WMRS Associate Director and the WMRS campus business officer (MSO). The committee chair is a UC faculty member selected by the committee. The committee meets annually, or more frequently as needed. The function of the WMRS Advisory Committee is to advise the WMRS Director on the programs and operations of the Station. Academic and operations plans are presented by the Director to the Advisory Committee for review and comment. The Director then reports the committee's advice to the Office of Research (Office of the the President) in the form of minutes and an annual report. These presentations and resulting recommendations normally occur during annual meetings of the committee, but may also happen at other times via email and teleconferences. The committee members may also assist the director with various functions such as reviewing documents and proposals, and they also act as liasons between WMRS and the ten UC campuses. |
